The Farm: Images from the Heartland
Art Competition and Exhibition
What scenes, past or present, does that conjure for you that make you want to dash off to your easel or your sketchpad or your camera and reproduce that artistic vision? What related experiences have you had, or what have you seen that gives you an excitement to create? What have you already created that craves a venue for sharing with others who will appreciate your view?
Plan on entering the art competition and exhibition of that name, co-sponsored by the Lake County Heritage Farm Foundation and the Lake County Discovery Museum. The 2012 competition is open to artists 18 years or older living in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana. Work must be original, not photographs or scans of the original. It must consist of farm scenes: buildings, equipment, animals, farm fields, people, etc. Work will be judged on originality of concept, technical expertise and emotional impact.
Among the many entries accepted for the ten week exhibition, excellence will be rewarded with $300, $200, and $100 for first, second and third place positions. Since the exhibit has Lake County roots and origins, a Special Award of $250 will be given for a Lake County, Illinois, image.
Our jurors have a wealth of experience in the various aspects of art. They are Joy Horwich, Chicago private gallery owner and pop-up art show curator; Dider Nolet, well-known Chicago artist and art teacher; and Nancy Schumm, photographer and published author.
